2024-2025 Budget

Like the Home Page of this website, the focus of this page is to provide my ex-constituents with as much information as possible to facilitate their monitoring/participation in the review of the Fiscal 2025 City Budget. Like a newspaper, I plan to post any opinions I might have on the budget on a different webpage, my “Editorial” webpage, “Observations”.

At the 4/15/2024 Council Meeting the budget meeting schedule was revised again and approved. The start of this “version 3” schedule shifted two more weeks to May 1, and is now at 8 meetings. Council has set a very demanding schedule for itself. On 4/15 it also was decided to move the meeting venue back to City Hall, but to locate it in the small Executive Conference Room, instead of the Council Chambers (where the aborted April 9 meeting was held and streamed). It appears that the meetings in the Executive Conference Room are NOT planned to be streamed. If so, these actions could significantly reduce transparency, since only several citizens will be able to fit in the conference room, along with M&C and staff. If more than several citizens choose to attend, I expect M&C will feel it necessary to move the meetings back to Council Chambers.

As of 4/24/2024, the detailed budget packet information placed on the City Website appears to be stable, and apparently matches the version 3 budget schedule. (Click Here and Scroll Down For PDFs of Packets) Be careful, there continue to be PDFs from the previous budget year still mixed in. Check the date that an item was posted.
